The Prime Time series continues with a multi-generational family mystery! Women's fiction at its best!
When two young people from opposite sides of the Atlantic meet accidentally in England's Lake District, Anna Mason finds another piece of the family puzzle she has been seeking.
This story highlights the problems of today's families where four generations compete for time and space.

I got the first book free and was drawn to the story sufficiently to buy the five succeeding ones. It seemed to me that the way the characters spoke was, at times, unlike American English. But since the characters, and the author, are Canadian perhaps they use fewer or no contractions (are not instead of aren't as an example) when they speak to each other.I enjoyed the part time setting in Scotland and the mystery ( and the resolution) that attaches to the house (and it's mysterious owner) bequeathed to the lead character.
There is no bad person in any of the 6 books, a bit pie in the sky I think. Still, there's joy and hopefulness in these books which made them a pleasure to read.

Time Out of Mind Prime Time Book 2 edition by Ruth Hay Neilson Hay Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
The series of these books have taken me on a very enjoyable trip to Scotland and England. I looked up pictures of a lot of the places mentioned, and am enjoying the story line tremendously. I plan to read the whole series.
So enjoyed this book. It took a while to get the first book and the second book side but when they did it was very very good can’t wait to start the third. Makes me feel very nostalgic
I don't understand why it's part of a series that started with Auld Acquaintances. This story is not a continuation of the first book and there was no connection made as far I could tell. The writing isn't good enough to keep reading to find out. I really like the story in Auld Acquaintances even though Ruth Hay is a mediocre writer. I wish I hadn't purchased it - in fact, would like my money back.
At first I was disappointed because Book #2 did not start where Book #1 left off. However, the book grabbed my attention since it was very well written and was enjoyable to read. Ruth Hay is a wonderful writer and I look forward to reading her other books.
After thoroughly enjoying book one I admit that I was confused by the major departure from life on the farm to an in depth story in which Anna plays a minute role. I understand how all these folks come together at the end but it was a totally unexpected journey that comprised 98% of the book. I found myself flipping past some pages in hopes of finding the real story. Also, the lawyer is now Andrew instead of George and there are several references to the purchase of the farm in Scotland where it was definitely an inheritance. All this aside I will most likely continue with the series.
purchased this as I thought it was book # 2 in series (prime time book 2) 1/2 way through and this has absolutely nothing to do with the characters or story from book # 1 so struggling to read it. I don't find the characters as engaging.......as I dislike not finishing a book, I will try to finish it and see how it goes, but as of 1/2 way through, I'm not impressed with the characters or storyline
Author Ruth Hay spins her storyline in a manner that sucks you, the reader, in completely. Her young character Caroline, a young college student who "becomes truly acquainted" with her Great Grandmother or Gigi in the nursing home where she is a resident. You have to admire Caroline, intelligent young woman that she is, as she looks beyond the smells & typical conditions of the average nursing home facility, using her wisdom & heart to improve conditions for both residents & staff as a special college project. You find yourself getting involved as well, as she pursues her goals.
Ms Hay in the meantime uses Gigi's dementia damaged mentality to inform you, the reader the "secrets" of her life, that even her family doesn't know, yet is tied together & disclosed at the proper time. None of her storyline is "forced", nor do you find yourself second guessing where it's going.
Caroline is given a much needed holiday after college by her parents & again Ms Hay weaves her storyline's magic, tying it into her first book, yet leaving you wanting "more" of her various family's continuing England/Canada/Scotland saga.
So very well written..You don't want to lay it down, in fact, during certain sections of this book, the fact is..I couldn't have put it down, if I had tried. Enjoyed reading, for sure!
